Since its founding in 1994, Uniresearch, a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) based in Delft, the Netherlands, has grown into a successful and independent consultancy firm specializing in national and European grants for innovation, research, and technological development. Uniresearch features a team of highly skilled consultants and project managers with diverse expertise in technical, scientific, and business administration fields. Leveraging experience from over 150 collaborative projects, Uniresearch has refined numerous project management and dissemination procedures, structures, and tools.

The IsoPROPEL initiative represents a strategic expansion of the Uniresearch portfolio in advanced maritime propulsion energy storage materials. Drawing on more than two decades of navigating European research frameworks, the team contributed to this project from inception by translating the initial concept into a structured Horizon Europe proposal. Decarbonising heavy-duty sectors like inland waterway transport requires alternatives to traditional fossil fuels, yet standard hydrogen fuel cells face significant storage, compression, and bunkering infrastructure hurdles. IsoPROPEL addresses this challenge by pioneering a carbon-neutral closed-loop system using renewable isopropyl alcohol (IPA) as a liquid e-fuel. The collaboration directly supports the core company objective of fostering sustainable innovation through complex, multi-partner engineering ventures.

The contribution focuses on the administrative and operational framework required to keep a major European consortium aligned. Uniresearch operates alongside the project coordinator to handle day-to-day management, track milestones, and maintain risk management protocols. Beyond administrative oversight, the firm is responsible for the project’s external footprint, directing all dissemination, communication, and exploitation strategies. This involves translating complex technical outcomes into targeted updates for industry stakeholders and the wider public, ensuring the project meets its contractual impact metrics and successfully transfers findings to the broader market.
