In March 2026, Prof. Gonzalo Prieto (Instituto de Tecnología Química, ITQ-CSIC-UPV, Valencia, Spain), and IsoPROPEL’s project coordinator, participated as a Keynote Speaker at the 5th International Syngas Convention held in Cape Town, South Africa (https://syngasconvention.com).
Recognized as the leading global forum for advances in C1 chemistry, syngas conversion, and e-fuel production catalysis, the conference, organized by University of Cape Town, brought together world-leading researchers and industrial stakeholders to discuss the latest scientific and technological developments in the field.
During his keynote lecture, Prof. Prieto presented tandem catalytic approaches for C1-to-C3 chain-growth propagation from renewable C1 feedstocks, highlighting their relevance for the production of sustainable oxygenated energy carriers and their contribution to the scientific foundations of the IsoPROPEL project. The lecture emphasized the potential of these catalytic concepts to enable efficient carbon utilization and support the development of low-carbon energy vectors for waterborne transport applications.
